Tuki Tuki Eco Farm

This state of the art environmentally friendly woolshed and utility was designed for foreign clients who purchased a large sheep and beef farm in the Hawke’s Bay’s Tuki Tuki Valley.

Woolly Wonderland – Sustainable Sheep Farm Redevelopment

The new farm redevelopment operates entirely off the grid (solar power), is clad entirely in Abodo's Tundra Cladding (in Protector - Graphite), and boasts major native riparian planting off many of the tributaries feeding the Tukituki river catchment, helping to keep the Bay’s waterways clean and pristine.

The designers were able to get the embodied energy of the farm right down by using products from the Hawke’s Bay and specifying locally produced and sustainably sourced materials like Abodo.

“When they bought the farm in June 2015, it was quite run down with no emphasis on sustainability or water management” says Willie, of Pollen Workshop (who were responsible for the project's landscaping).

“Their vision was to create a world-class sustainable working farm with a low environmental footprint. So we jumped in straight away and said we would develop a cutting edge, 100% renewable solar powered, off the grid, zero ecological impact model for them”. Stage one of the project is almost complete.

Stage two, which involves soil nutrient reduction measures and more riparian planting across the farm’s marginal farmland, is underway.
